How bout this carb for the KLX?
Mikuni TM36-68 flat slide 36mm Pump carburetor Pumper

Mikuni's TM series TM36-68 flat slide carburetor w/ AcceleratorPUMP Brand New!!
Mikuni' TM series (flat side) carburetor provide significant performance improvements over older round slide carburetors. Air flows faster and smoother through the TM series Venturi due to the flat side design and the jet blocks which help create smooth bore effect, The high velocity of the air flow means a stronger vacuum at the needle jet providing more precise metering
and better throttle response.[ul][*]Size(mm): 36[*]Main Jet:130 VM28/486[*]Pilot Jet:12.5[*]Air Jet: 1.0[*]Needle Jet:784-241111 P-8[*]Jet Needle: 9DZH6-50[*]Throttle Valve: N/A[/ul]

RE: How bout this carb?
There are two that are running it on bigbore klx's (1, 340 and 1, 331) and one that was running it on 250cc. If you are going to go to 300cc and beyond I feel it is a good carb but I think it is a little to big for 250cc displacement. It is actualy the best fitting pumper carb for the klx, better fitthan the fcr35 and the tm33 pumper. It probably fits better than the stock carb.

RE: How bout this carb?
I'm the one running the TM36-68 on the 250cc displacement. So far the results have been quite good. My low end throttle response is way up, so much to the point I will be upgrading my front springs due to getting more air off small jumps etc. I'm still in the tuning phase, currently having moved the needle from #2 postion to #4 due to a lean cruise mixture. As for this carb being to big, I feel it's not, and 2mm bigger is only 6% more.

RE: How bout this carb?
I think I was the first here to put on a TM36, so that's more than 3. I lovemine -easy to get in and out, easy to tune, and works great. If you're running a Clarke tank, you have to grind the top of the throttle wheel off for clearance. Mine fit as-is with the stock tank, but somebodyhad fitment issues, so I guess you have to try it and see. I'm only running the pull cable and ditched the push cable.
In getting my carb sorted out, I had a stumble when rolling off the throttle that was only completely cured by changing both the needle and needle jet. Now I have the carb spot-on for my elevation (2400' ASL). My setup is:
[ul][*]Main Jet: 130 (stock)[*]Pilot Jet: 17.5 (stock is a 12.5)[*]Needle Jet: P-4 (stock is a P-8)[*]Needle: 9EBY1-50 (stock is a 9DZH6-50)[*]Needle Clip: 3rd slot from top (middle position)[*]Fuel/Air Screw: 2 turns out[*]A/P Pump Timing: Starts at 1/8 throttle and stops at 3/4 throttle[*]A/P Squirter: Pointed directly at the needle (fuel should splash off the needle)[*]Airbox lid removed - K&N air filter[*]Thumper Racing 340 kit[*]Full aftermarket exhaust[/ul]
Even though I'm running a 340, this setup should prove a good starting point for the stock bore, too. You might have to change the pilot jetor move the clip on the needle. Nobody seems to need to change the main jet. Mooredan is usingthis jettingonhis KLX331 and saysit works well.

RE: How bout this carb?
Back in the day when I was into building my Honda 250x atv, the stock carb was good up to 350cc. It was also a pumper carb. I had a Mickey Dunlap 318cc kit in my bike, and the performance was incredible, even with the stock carb. I remember running main jets as high as 140's in the bike.
The 250x/300ex atv pumper carbs are pretty cheap ($30-60$)on ebay, I wonder if I should give one a try?

RE: How bout this carb?
I dropped the MJ to 127.5 due to my altitude 5000' - I don't have any off road rides in on the TM36 yet.
Kawi Wawi, get that carb yet? I'm guessing you'll need to change the pilot jet, needle jet and needle on it like Mike and I needed to.
I agree with Jeff, the TM36 fits better than the CVK34 and TM33. Well, at least its easier to get in and out of the bike.

RE: How bout this carb?
Still waiting for it to arrive...[&:] I've been dealing with Top Shelf Parts down in Florida..
The prices he quoted me were great - maybe too good.... ... ..
He sent me a tracking number for my package 10 days ago.
However the USPS tracking site still says that it may or may not have been received by USPS.
(Shipper printed a label but probably hasn't dropped off the package yet).
I think tomorrow I'll be getting a hold of Paypal to dispute the charges. [:@]
