HORN STOPPED WORKING
My horn stopped working a couple of weeks ago. I replaced the horn with a new one and it still doesn't work. I checked the wires with a multi meter and I get 12 volts when the horn button is pushed. It doesn't make sense why it doesn't work . When the button is not pushed there are 0 volts and 12 volts when you push the button. ??????????? I even tried reversing the wires on the new horn , no go.

RE: HORN STOPPED WORKING
I hooked a new ground wire and now the horn stays on constantly without pushing the horn button. I even tried splicing the original ground and the new ground together, horn still stayed on constantly.

Re: Horn stopped working
The brown wire to the horn is 12v from the main switch ( on when the key [ main switch ] ) is on.
The black wire to the horn is to horn button and gets a ground when the button is push completing the circuit to make the horn work..

RE: HORN STOPPED WORKING
Yeah, I was pretty sure that was the case, but i didn't have my shop manual handy.
Dmar, you cant run a ground directly to the terminal on the horn or you will be bipassing the switch. You have problem with the switch or the wiring going in and out of it. It's probably worth removing the switch from the handle bars and checking it out with a multi-meter.

RE: HORN STOPPED WORKING
Well , I got it fixed at the dealer. They said it was dirt in the horn switch, also something to do with duct tape I had under the horn button assembley. I had the tape there to help secure the assembley when I put on renthal bars.
