Default HMF Slip-On W/ FMF PowerBomb Head Pipe

Justed wanted to share for those truley interested and NOT start another exhaust war with the big-gun / muzzy people.

I've had a HMF slip-on for the past 1-1/2 years along with all the other moda that we caould all dream up. Recently came across a good deal (eBay) on a FMF PowerBomb SS Head Pipe for the KLX250s. Did some research and decided to buy it.
Installed it last weekend and it fir perfectly to the HMF slip-on and i would expect to fit with a stock muffelr or any othe slip-on that mates with the stock head pipe.

As for the performance, I'm very impressed!
I was thinking about a 300cc kit, but no more, she runs great!!!!!
Also the "no heat shield" thing is NOT an issue either, unless you were your 70's bell-bottoms!!

DJ can you be more specific as to what improvements you noticed? I am interested in the header for my HMF also.

What changes did you make(if any) to the carb to accomodate the header?

TIA.

TIA
Sorry for the delay in responding.
As fr the increase in performance, I can hnestley say it really picked up the mid-range and top-end. I also did NOT rejet. I'm running the same 125 /40 set-up with the needle lifted I believe .030"
Also Have the KDX snorkle and Uni filter.
Just did another 40 mile ride in the woods yesterday and she runs great....

I don't recall anybody saying you needed to rejet due to just changinga head-pipe. That just further supportsthe position that the biggest restiction in the stock exaust is the muffler, with it'ssoda straw sized outlet.

He,he..'N-O-T' in all caps...rejeting musthave been astressful event for you..LOL!

The jetting was not a big deal, I just wanted to get the point across......
I am now of the opinionthe exhaust restriction is 60/40 muffler/head pipe.

Can anyone explain why these KLX's have such a low HP output? They have the liquid cooling, high comp (esp. compared to honda and the yammi XT), and a fairly high rev limit (10,500) I heard somewhere they put out around 20HP at the crank. Seems low to me, espcially compared to Yamaha's new WR250R (30HP?). My old Warrior 350 was rated 24hp (crank), and that was a low comp., air cooled, 2-valve ... seems the Kawi should put out at least that much ...
