Default Hit the Local Bike night with the KLX

Wasn't sure how it was going to go. 90% Harley's... It was fun watching them do wheel to wheel burnouts.

Had one of these pull-up and park next to me.

He was all over the KLX, asking who's it was and how cool it was.

They had a chassis dyno there. I watched as they strapped one of these on.

1300CC's made 58 rwhp. What a turd.

That's the great thing about bikes, no matter what we ride, we can always admire another one. Mutual respect is one of the great by products of this love we all share.........what the what? Alright who spiked my coffee this morning.

I was chatting with the Tiger owner, he was leaving to go directly to the Harley Dealer for an Electra Glide. The Tiger was so smooth running, I guess he wants his fillings to fall out.

I'd like to do the 351 Kit, but I don't think I would strap it to the dyno in front of the bikers.

All things considered I'd say that 28hp at the wheel on a single cyclinder 351 is actually pretty outstanding next to a 1300 cc bike only making 58... crap, guys with 650cc motors are making that much on bikes that certainly way less, my lc4 would totally keep up no prob with my friends 1200 Sportster... and get better mileage... and run over curbs happily... and yeah, that's why I'm not a cruiser guy really. Adventure touring is about as cruiser as I care to be

the thing that make them run like crap is the jetting (super duper rich) and my guess low compression. you never hear a hd running 100 percent right, unless he doesnt hang with other hd riders. if i had 1300cc's, i would have a rocket or sell it.

Different engine tuning for different riding. Cruiser riders want massive torque at low rpm. Engineers intentionally detune the engine in order to make it subjectively feel unstoppable at very low engine speeds, like a locomotive. This is what the laid back, "gotta ride with 5000 other people dressed the same real slow and not so far" people want because it works for the type of riding they do. It is fairly easy to make the cruiser engine into a real fire-breathing dragon, but then it doesn't pull top gear at idle anymore, which is what they like. Roadracers can get by with only high-rpm power and we like something in the middle. I don't cruise but for those that like it there are a lot of slow, low-powered shiny bikes for them to pose on. I agree, I'll take an all-around practical bike over poser gear any day.

higher compression would equal more torque and hp, or i might be crazy...

but those things are definally torque if you can cruse the freeway at near idle like they do. some people take it to far some times though, heard newer hd's with i think a 6 speed, the final gear can shatter if at to low of a speed or something like that.
