Default hesitation blues

Newbie. When I'm on the highway, 50-75 mph, it's cutting out, or acting like it's cutting out. Not sure. The engine seems to be sewing machine smooth, but I'm feeling these little hesitations, and at highway speeds it is not a comfortable feelings. Suggestions, thoughts???

cut and connect the wires for the kickstand kill switch together....that solved it for me...mine did that and once the engine actually did cut out....

If the engine just feels like it's surging a little, it is the jetting. Is the bike still stock?

If the hesitation is only happening at higher speeds, it sounds like the engine could be missing due to fuel starvation, due in turn to an undersized or dirty main jet (?). Without knowing what mods you have and how you are defining 'hesitating' & 'cutting out' it's tough to know but my interpretation is that it may be fuel rather than electrical.
Having said that, there's no harm in trying some easy electrical stuff first like a new plug and bypassing the sidestand switch if for no other reason than to rule them out before going straight for the carb...

Yes. I bought it with 1400 miles, now have about 2400. As far as I know it is totally stock. The hesitation *feels* like a carb issue, but again, I'm not sure. I know this bike is set to run lean.

Ok, this makes sense (regrounding the r/r). I read all the posts on re-jetting and replacing the carb, and clearly that isn't the answer. Thank you for redirecting me, I'll try the electrical fix and see what happens.

I bought a used KLX250SF with less than 100 miles on it, it surged and hesitated badly, I put in the dynojet kit (Stage 1) and the bike runs perfectly now.
