You don't have to pull the airbox. There are 4 tiny nuts holding the screen in place. Its a little tedious to remove them and cut out the screen, took me about an hour all said.
Be sure to clean up completely with a magnet and shop vac so no metal bits find their way into the carb.

I forgot I did my screen on mine. I did my with the jetting kit so I could not tell you if it will help by itself.
When I got my klx I had come off an xr250, stock I wanted to cry. But it became an enjoyable bike after jetting, air box lid removal, screen removal, fourstroke works header and slip on. I would say the power was close to the xr250 but the weight was 50 lbs more.

G,day to all have just signed up to this forum .I Have a 07 klx250H and have only been riding for the past 2 years . would like some feedback on whether the 300 kit is worth getting or would i be better off getting a klx450.Here's a few picks of my back yard
