Help! Leaking Gas from Carb overflow tube.
Just went on a 10 minute ride to a friends and when I got there gas was pouring out of the black tube that comes from the bottom of the carb. It would stop when I turned off the petcock.
Rode it home and now it wont leak. Sticky carb? I have had the bike about 6 months and havent had it apart yet.
I live in Charlotte NC and just visited Wilmington this weekend and did about an hour ride. Not sure if that matters or not but a lot of people mention sea level numbers when talking carbs.
I am about to dive into it and see what I can find out. All thoughts and ideas are welcome. The bike has several mods done so I have be curious for some time as to whether or not it has been jetted properly.

Dunno about a write-up, but just pull up the parts fiche on it from Rocky Mountain ATV or Bike Bandit or someplace. It's not at all hard to disassemble. Just do it on a well-lighted, clean workbench free of cats or children or anything else.
Once you get it out of the bike, tip it over a few times to get all the gas out of it (don't do it over your grass). To get the bowl off the first time, you will probably need to use needle nose vice grips instead of a philips screwdriver. They're on THAT tight. You'll just strip the heads out otherwise. But if you use the vice grips, you can then reuse the bolts as many times as you want afterward.
All you really need to do, most likely, is get the bowl off and spray the whole thing out with carb cleaner. Maybe remove the float valve and spray it off and down in its hole, then reassemble.
'Course if you haven't done a Dynojet kit yet, now is a perfect time to do it.

Rob thanks for the insight. I have just spent an hour reading a couple different good threads I have found. Thankfully no cats or children to worry about.....just my lack of experience!

This is my first bike and I have never done any carb work. I have a good friend who knows them well but is out of town till later this week. I believe I am going to study up and order some new o-rings(just in case). Then with his help dive in and do some learning. I am really hoping that it has already had the Dynojet kit done but will be ordering it the moment I realize it hasnt.
