Default Hello everyone

Hi, I am a new member and this is my first post. I have been reading these forums for almost a year now and decided to join today. I have read a lot of threads on modding the KLX. My bike is a 2006 Klx, and it is completely stock, except for a windscreen and bags. I use it everyday I can for commuting to and from work. I drive about 17 miles each way and 1 of those miles is on a dirt road. I have been thinking about adding a slip-on, but not sure which one, I am on a tight budget. If I do this I am worried about the noise, gas mileage, and if it would hurt the bike's longevity. If I do this I know I have to rejet. I ride between 600-1000 feet above sea level. I am thinking I probably need to install a 130 main maybe a bit bigger. I am not too interested in other mods at this time, just something to get a little more power, any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum.

Thoughts...

I picked up a used HMF slipon from Ebay for about half price of new. Rejetted with a DynoJet kit, and settled on the DJ#124 main jet, clip 2 down, and mix screw about 2 turns out. It was still rich, but power much improved over stock. Now have a FMF quiet core and like it much better, although I think the HMF flowed better and may have yielded more power, but often noise feels like power when it really isn't! Now a 351 kit with DJ#124 and clip 3 down. I'm at 3000 ft and up. Jet sizes are not consistent between Keihin, Mikuni, and DynoJet so beware.

I have a 124jet at 2200ft with no air box lid and dg exhaust slip on (ebay $150). So you should be okay with a 128 I think

It will be loud with the slip on . I have the fmg quiet slip on but its still loud . It's an advantage on the trails though , other riders hear you coming especially on tight blind curves on the trails lol .

The FMF Q4 is probably the quietest slip-on after stock. You won't need to rejet if you just replace the slip-on.

Really? I thought I would on any slip-on, will there be a power increase without rejetting?
BTW I love your camo, looks amazing.

If I did decide to rejet with the Q4 what you guys think I should put in for a jet, I will most likely by Keihen(spelling?), I would also move the position that my needle jet is on too right? A million years ago I went through this with a Banshee, but the carbs were way easier to get to on that.
