Here's a video with my $10 ebay 5 LED light. I had a bad connection, so the light was going off and coming back on, but it shows the difference between the headlight alone and the headlight with the LED's. I also have another 6 4.5W flood LED's mounted up (that weren't on in this video) that add some additional light (not much far out, because they're floods, mostly just right in front of you)

This quick vid shows the 6 flood LED's (before I added the 5 LED spot bar):

When I ride at night (which I do quite a lot of) with the headlight, the 6 LED's and the 5 LED spot bar, visibility is very good.

I check the list for fitment of the H4 on ADV every once in a while. I need to again...
Last time I looked there wasn't a KLX on the fitment list.
Space is tight in there, but with some selective zip-tying of the harness it could fit.
I"m pretty sure it's the same light that Sanjoh (ADV member/vendor) sells on ADVmonster.com.
He also sells a nice light bar, much like mine.
I too like my light bar...See my review https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...-review-42631/ ...but I still need decent light when I hit oncoming traffic and have to turn it off.
Someone's got to try the H4, who's it gonna be?

since I got my klx I did HID
high low type

super bright, easy to install
just have to aim the beam down alot so you dont blind people
still can see way further then stock bulb

but on other bikes ive been switching to led
they use less wattage, less wiring

that cyclops posted here will work 3800 Lumen H4 LED Headlight bulb
most of those types you can remove the heat sink they just unscrew
on bikes you dont need them, plenty of air flow
must be for cars as under hood temps could get hot
but if it will fit then sure why not use it

the little power supply can be easily hidden too

that will be as bright as the hid, led has instant on which is nice

my hid is a high low model moves a reflector on the bulb so I have a true high beam
all the led's ive done even if they had high beam wiring its not high, same level
if no high wiring they will turn off when hitting the high bean button on your controls

I get my led's off ebay usually the 22watt type
around $50 for 2
just look for the little power supply box the ones that dont have that wont be as bright like hid

the hid's I use I get from ddm here locally
lifetime warranty
so thats why all my old bikes still use hid, no reason to change them as they are lifetime warranty
but any new bike I do gets led from now on

Sanjoh is working on modifying the TrailTech X2 with some bright LED units. I plan on giving it a try on the KLX and if it works well enough may put a modified X2 on the KDX.

Its pretty darned impressive how lighting has evolved over the past ten years.

Default LED TrailTech X2!!!

That would be cool. I keep looking for pieces to make a rally fairing with and keep coming back to that set up as a good option to start with because of it's looks, dimensions, and weight. And with LEDs the power use would be even less. Which is more power for other options.

Here's your link: Trail Tech X2 halogen upgrades? - ADVrider

Funny the OP starts with how bad the standard X2 halogen is. I find it much better than the stock headlight and better than others I ride with, but certainly looking forward to an improvement.

^ Looking forward to what you 'see' with the new lighting.

Here is another idea -
It reduces the resistance to the headlight, thus letting it work to full potential.
H4 Kits

I've not tried it, but the concept makes sense.
