Am I not searching right? I am looking for info on a few different topics but I am not finding what I want. I am curious about a few things, first brighter headlights or maybe just auxillary headlights. I know the electrical output will lessen my options. I have made one alteration so far and that is a happy trails klr tail light. Second, How can I get the power I may need for brighter lights? When I go to work or school it is dark, and I live in the sticks so there is no other light than mine.

 

has anyone tried this on a 2006? Does it work well or overheat the light housing?

I rad a HID headlight in my 2009 and 2012...consumes less power,and much brighter...some ppl question if alot of off road bouncing around isnt good for HID's however...DDMtuning.com...motorcycle kit

 

looks like a good kit, which wattage did you use? Do you think the 55 would be too hot? How hard is the wiring?

 

I have had good luck with DDM kits in other applications (knock on wood). I run their 55W 5000K H11 kit in my 848 corse and my 4Runner and both have worked well. However, they are both projectors, I am not sure about running HIDs in a non-projector housing like the KLX.

It's not a good idea unless you are OK with running a non-street-legal lighting set up. On road, you'll cause a driving hazard for yourself others. At the very least you'll attract attention from zealous police looking for a reason to pull you over.
The reflector geometries of a halogen housing and HID housing are different to account for the different characteristics of the two types of bulbs. An HID bulb in a halogen housing results in hot spots and an uneven spread of light which can blind others and leave critical parts of your view in the dark.

 

not only do I use DDM
they are a local store to me so I can just walk in and buy there lights

they had told me 35 watt produces accurate color
where 55watt actually shines a lower color
so if you ordered 5000K 55 watt shines it like a 4500K or less

and over time they do shift colors too
so if you have 5000K 35 watt later it will become closer the 4500k

anyways use 35watt high low beam setup
I like the fact they have lifetime warranty on unbroken bulbs, and ballasts
at least here I can just walk in and swap out broken parts
I guess everyone else would have to mail those back
