Ah no not really--it said the engine is being made by Rotax--not Harley. Rotax has been making decent engines for eons. Every had anything from Bombardier? Then you probably had a Rotax.

Buellmakes a great chassis, tons of innovation & simplicity--which to me is the true elegance of a great design. If they had ANYTHING else for a motor I would have seriously considered them for a street bike (they get Harley's pricing too[:'(])

I've always liked Buells. Most owners tell me that is because I haven't owned one though. More power to an American company if they do it. Outsourcing their engines isa good idea. Hopefully, they will be successful at it.

This isn't a new concept. Do a search for the Harley MT500 and MT350. Military spec dual sports that were Roatx powdered. I took this pic at the Barber Museum - it's a 1999 MT500.

I've got no problems with HD - their cruisers aren't my cup of tea, but they are just giving their customers what they want, right? If they make their dirt bike customers as happy as their cruiser customers, I think they will make a great bike. It might take a few iterations to get it nailed down, but one thing you can't accuse HD of is making a bike their customers don't like.
