kick the tire to check the air - safety first

2 month old gas is going to be weak. I wouldn't run it in my bike, maybe the lawnmower. A lot of evaporation leaves it degenerated.
The pilot jet might be gummed up with residue from the gas. If it starts but won't idle then the pilot needs soaked in carb cleaner, and if that is needing done, I would do them all, including the carb body itself. I don't soak a diaphragm.
Next time, add Stabil to the gas, and run the engine long enough to be sure the treated gas makes it through the fuel system. It'll prevent any degrading of the gas from happening.
I add the Stabil if any engine is laid up for longer than 2 weeks.
The guys have the right idea of letting it run for awhile, clutch plates might have stuck together.
Starting it and then run it hard to "blow the cobwebs out." isn't what I recommend.
