Hatfield & McCoy trail ride w/pics

My only regret is that we didn't get a picture while I was standing knee deep in the water. I had the camera with me but was afraid to throw it across the water and mud.
I am glad that I threw a piece of rope in that morning when I was packing. From now on that will be a must have for the Pelican box!

Ok, first ditch the pinkish colored tow rope, manhood is on the line here. Do the carb "t mod', No more offending tow ropes off any offending hue required, your hair is fine, wish I had mine gray or not. Looks like you had a blast and that's the bottom line.

According to an article in American Motorcyclist they're adding 200 miles of trails to Hatfield-McCoy this year. And I just picked up a 3-rail trailer...I hope to make it down there this year.
BTW - I have the same boots. Not too pricey and they work pretty well.

Track Log
Great Pics. Planning on going down there was soon as it warms up. Did you make a track log of your trip? If you have one, post it on GPSXchange http://www.gpsxchange.com/ after you sign up. I haven't found a gps track log sharing forum within this web site. Maybe I missed it. I'm planning a trip out to Moab, UT and Randsburg CA (Jawbone) areas this spring and need all the track logs I can get. Definitely do the carb vent line mod and leave the snorkel on the airbox (upgrade to KDX snorkel). For those deep water crossings, you'll be glad you did.

Sounds like we need to have Kawasaki Forums Trail Ride at Hatfield & McCoys....could probably get a fair number of us to show up!
As far as the GPS track goes, I used some maps I got online to create tracks of the trails before we went and then uploaded them to my GPS. Once at the trail head I put the GPS into log mode and recorded the actual track we rode. With this I can correct my original track made from the map. I have created tracks for Pinnacle Creek (where we rode) and Indian Ridge. I use various combinations of Garmin Mapsource, Delorme TopoUSA, and some good freeware off the internet. Be glad to share what I have if you're interested.

Just interested in which model GPS unit you are using. Does it have SD card upgrade ability?

I have a Garmin etrex Legend Cx. It uses a micro SD memory card. I think I have 512m or 1G card in it. It works great. I use a RAM mounting system on my handlebar so the GPS is always right there in front of you. My only complaint is that the screen is small and at my age the old peepers do focus as well as they used to.
