( have a 2012 KLX 250S that has been on a charger abd resting in the garage for most of the winter. I tried to fire it up this morning and got no where near running. The starter is working fine and it will turn over but....I nearly wore myself out trying to get the thing to fire. Is the 250S that cold blooded?

I agree, probably some kind of fuel problem. But if you replace the gas, clean the carb and it still won't start well, check your valves. My 2009 became hard to start when it had 4500 miles on it, the intake valves had tightened up so badly it wouldn't start. The exhaust valves were fine.

Fuel with ethanol added will take up more water from the air than olde fashioned pure petro fuel. I'm all for good environmental management, but ethanol in fuel has it's own little considerations that they powers that be don't think we should be worried about. I won't rant about using corn to make the ethanol in the first place (grrrrrrrrrr!) but suggest draining the fuel, cleaning the carb and starting fresh.

Search for " hard starting" here on KF . This is probably the number one problem with these bikes, besides being underpowered in stock form.
You can turn off the petcock, and run it until the carb bowl is empty, each time you park it, or you can fix it and be done with it by drilling the enricher jet in the carb. There are threads on that here too.
