Hard/no start, possible fix

RE: Hard/no start, possible fix
Carbs great, it's a little lean on the main jet which I have to fix. It's chalk and cheese to the CVK, easy starting, instant acceleration, no return cable, whats not to like? About the only thing I like with the CVK over the TM33 is the CVK was a little smoother when getting on and off the throttle, like when your idling along in traffic and changing gears. And the best thing is thanks to Bill it was easy to fit [8D]
Thanks again Bill

RE: Hard/no start, possible fix
I live in SLC, UTand the temps have been around 10 degrees, and sometimes less. I have had start problems from the get go and charging the battery did nothing other than prolong the torturous start. Since I have tried the tip to the left thing which usually ends up spilling a little gas out of the machine but ends up working perfectly with a quick start up. I also did the running the bike out of gas thing with the extra choke and run for another 5 seconds until it is very dry and that works well too. And this is with 3 to 4 days of 0 to 20 degree temps while my bike sits in the unheated garage and not charging the battery. Dacoontz.

I only had the the hard start problem with the Keihin CVK34 carb. I haven't experienced it with either the Mikuni TM33 or TM36. It appears that this problem is isolated to the stock carb.

Can't believe so many are having problems with this issue. I can leave the KLX with the pecock on for 2x weeks and it will still start right up with a little choke. Cold weather is another issue. Once it hits 32*F, I'm screwed. Itwill crank till the battery dies.
