Default Handlebar Choice - Raising!!

Just got my 2009 but the weather here in Oregon is going to get bad so I am planning or doing all the modifications soon. Question: I am a bit over 6'3" and want to raise the handlebars.

Is it better to stay stock and use risers or new bars. How high can you go without needing new cables (don't really want to do that). Any bar recommendations

I see some bikes using ATV bars

Thanks Rik

I stuck on a pair of Renthal Jimmy Button bend and I like em! They are a bit higher and wider and they habve a more natural wrist bend to them. for me anyway.

I used some moose atv bars when I had my drz and didn't need to replace the cables so I would guess that you could do the same for the klx. I can't say for certain cause I use some pit posse bar risers along with an after market bar on my klx.

Where did you get the risers? How much do they raise them? What did you use for bars?
I am in bad need of a lift also, I am just not comfortable with the stock bars.

You can see the bar risers on my bike in this picture they raise the bars by 20mm you can also use another set of handlebar clamps whichever is cheaper. They are probably cheaper than new handlebars? I also replaced the stock bars with a set of Renthals, no idea what bend but they are around the same height as the stock bars.
The cables all fit ok with the 20mm rise.

pit posse had the bar risers. I forget how high it raised the bars. maybe an inch or so I'd guess. they were $40.

I have Renthal CRF 150 adult bend bars. They're about 2 inches higher than stock and have less sweep. They made a huge difference in my riding, making it possible for me to stand now.( I'm 6'3" as well) I don't think I could have gone higher with the stock cables.

I just ordered bar risers from Rox for my daughters bike, I haven't installed them yet but I think they add 2 inches in height and can pivot moving your bars further or closer as you require. They're about $ 80.00 US.

I've had the Moose atv Raptor bend bars for about two years now.....you could not go any higher without new cables.

Nice bars ..... I like em and the moose barkbusters fit like a glove. I would recommend this combo, but I would still like the bars higher....but new cables.. maybe later.
