Default Hammock camping and the KLX

Last weekend I took the bike up to the Sierra Nevada's for some riding. It was perfect weather and I found some awesome logging roads to traverse.

Loading up and heading out.

I've recently got into hammock camping. This was my first time taking it out. I absolutely love it and will never go back to a tent.

My wife and I enjoying the sunset.

The next day I took her out for a quick ride and then it was off to the trails.

Taking a break on the dam

Little Grass Valley Reservoir, the lake side.

The other side

The ascend

I made it 8 miles up this road before encountering this beast; it was time to turn around.

Back to camp a little dirtier. Unfortunately, there was no water (mud) to be found, just dirt.

Who says you have to rough it camping. I ran LED lights off a car battery at night.

Good times!

I have a fishnet hammock that rolls up into a ball the size of an apple. I take it everywhere when I dualsport.

is that a Lawson blue ridge hammock ? how do you like it ? I've been eyeing one myself for a while but am a bit leary of those kinds that need the guy lines to stabilize, I had a "jungle hammock" that I never was entirely happy with years back.

Damn, you know your hammocks! It's been a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get it dialed in it's a good hammock. The first night I didn't use tie-downs, that was a mistake! I ended up on my *** in about 5 seconds. It was so unstable I couldn't sleep in it for more then a few hours. After using tie-downs and getting an underquilt it got a lot better. I also like the versatility of being able to use it as a bivy if there are no trees around.

Here's a pic of it in my backyard.

I have a Arrowhead Jarbridge underquilt, it fits pretty good.

Another thing on my list. I've been eyeing a Clark Jungle Hammock my self. More or less how much did that hammock set you back? I'm just afraid to drop the dough on one because I like to sleep warm and I'm a side sleeper. Looks legit!

I bought mine new on eBay for $125. You can also buy them direct from Lawson Hammock | The Original Camper's Tent Hammock for $170. For what you get its one of the best deals out there.
