Most of us only have a GPS, but I see no reason why you couldn't mount a little 2mor 2m/440 dual bander somewhere. I personally think an HF rig and associated antennas would be kinda unweildy though.

well here is what I have planned. Its gonna be a 2m 20cm with a mini magnetic antenna on a bracket mounted onto the license plate. I think that is the most logical place to mount the antenna. and plus all I need is a little peice of angle iron drilled with a 1/4 inch hole to bolt to the license plate then stick my little antenna that I currently have on my truck onto it. the base of the antenna is only 1inch so if I use 2x2 angle I am good.

Cool! Maybe you can check-in as 'moutain top, off-road mobile' sometime I used to have a modded mobile kenwood dual bander 2m/23cm that I used as a cross-band repeater from my hand held 23cm. I have since let my licenseepire (Extra Class), so I would have tofly to stateside, take the test again, then buy a reciprocal operating permit for another $200.00 here in Japan. Too much trouble to go though right now.

Good luck on the set-up. Post some pics if you go ahead with it.
