Hacksaw + Uni-Filter = gobs of low-end
Took a hacksaw to the bike tonight and in the process installed a Uni-Filter air filter. This was the final mod to all the rest of them- BigGun EvoX, 128 main, N1TC needle in 2nd position, 13-tooth cs sprocket, crankcase breather tube burned to 3/8", smog system removed, drilled slide, air/fuel screw 2.5 turns out from fully seated.
When I installed the pipe- to get more air in, I removed the tiny snorkel and just left the airbox lid on with the hole exposed. Today when I put in the air filter I cut the opening around twice as big as it was, it has no snorkel. I figure it's gonna suck air regardless. And boy does it. This thing ran extremely well before the filter mod, but I got tremendous low end power gains from the Uni filter and more air. I made it into a 3rd gear wheelie tonight. I gotta be careful or it will go over in 2nd gear wheelies if I'm not careful and that's the god's honest truth. I love this bike more and more each time I ride it.
A local car dealer is having a bike rally Friday night and if all goes well I plan on taking my KLX to it because they are having a dyno there and I am dying to know how much power my bike really makes. I will post results if I make it over there.

RE: Hacksaw + Uni-Filter = gobs of low-end
I too found the same progressive gains in low end delivery. Between stock-KDX snorkel and then from no snorkel to airbox lid off. I get a smaller gain when I take the baffle out of the exhaust but the audible enjoyment increases exponentially on the trails, too loud for the road though. How does the UNI compare to the stock filter and what oil do you use?

i have a 125 mian and clip on the 3rd position and a uni with the kdx snorkel, but it doesnt sound like mine is running like yours.... i think i might have to jump to 128 and the second position.... damn i am really not looking forward to ripping off the carb again.

I originally had it in the 3rd position, but it seemed to want to just fall off when the throttle was completely off, it was hard to ride. I moved the needle quite quickly to the 2nd position and it provided a bit more engine braking, revdown, don't really know how to describe it. In the 3rd position, when you let off the throttle it just felt like it was gonna die. I took the tank off and removed the top cover of the carb and just removed the needle and moved the clip. After that it was perfect, more responsive with throttle off, it felt like it was idling down and not just falling off rev.
I bought my Uni-filter from Dennis Kirk (yes, the one for the 300 fits, but they have the 250 listed). I also picked up the Klotz aerosol filter oil. The filter is head and shoulders above the stock one, the foam is of better quality, more breathability, and filtering area according to my hand and eyes. I can't believe the low end it has now. I really couldn't ask for the thing to run any better. I really think I could be competitive in the 125 class right now with some real tires and 10 less years on me. I almost have 500 miles on the bike and it really feels like it's loosening up. I'm changing the oil right now. The next change will get 100% synthetic oil, brand name undecided but it has to have the SJ rating.
