Default GTPP Who has it?

When I bought my klx250sf last week they offered me the Good Time Protection Plan for like 600 bucks for 5 years of coverage. I told them I'd think about it and add it later. So who buys this extra plan and is it worth it?
Do Mods void the plan?

Thanks guys
I've learned a lot so far hanging out on here

The dealer where I bought my bike ran it by me but didn't push it. When I talked to him about it again at the 600 mile service he straight up said don't bother, so I didn't buy the GTPP, money better spent on other things. I think mods probably would void it.

These plans are real heavy in commissions. That means it is very high profit now if they were used allot by the holders of said warranties they would not be very profitable. Statistics indicate they are used about 14% of the time.

Given this information do you think it is a good buy?

Sure you have someone tell you they had it and saved there bacon but do not be fooled they are just part of the 14%. Odds have it you will be part of the 86% that do not need it.

Oh one other thing they have allot of clauses that get them out of some coverage issues.

+ another 1. Consumer Reports typically says that entended warranty's in general are a bad investment.

My bikes never been back to the dealer since I bought it new 2 years ago. I do all my own spannering, that way I know the job's been done right. One cylinder, four valves, how hard can it be?

coming from a mechanic's point of view, they're garbage. i've seen soo many customers, who payed thousands on aftermarket warranty programs, get screwed because of one little technicality

I bought the 4 extra years for $440.00 and it was worth it to me, not only was it piece of mind, but I actually used it twice after the first year. I figure I just about broke even. To each his own I guess.

The other thing I guess for me was that I never plan on opening up the motor, so if something went wrong in those 4 years, I wanted it to be worked on by the shop. My plan expires on 11/23/2010...... If something goes really wrong, I'm gonna shop for a KLX 650 motor.

I have plans for a big bore kit next summer and new pipes and jet kit in a few months when the check book heals up some. and none of those things would NOT be covered so the plan really wouldn't help me I don' think.
