Finger Mullet stated that the fuel tank from a KLX300 (which is 2.6 gallons) will fit on our KLX250s. As I recall, he stated that you also need to use the KLX300 radiator shrouds. He said that he purchased aftermarket plastic. This presents the opportunity to change the color of one's bike, too! Oh yeah. . . the radiator fan must be removed. . . install low-profile fan(s) if you need to.

Shouldn't have to do all that extra work. We will not be swayed from our quest! We want our tank and we want it NOW!

Just an FYI
The rack can't hold a lot of weight? LOL I had near 60 lbs on it and rode on some of the roughest gravel roads filled with pot holes and the rack held up just fine. Not that I didn't worry about it every time I Hit a bump. YIKES!!

Why is it that Husky and KTM can produce streetable/plateable dual sport bikes with plastic tanks here in the USA? My 07 te450 came with a plastic tank from the factory and has a homoglomation (sp?) sticker on it. Is it a quantity thing? Like since the Jap 4 bike makers import thousands of bikes they need metal tanks, and Husky an KTM imports not that many in comparison?

Sorry to get off track again....

Stay on task. Stay on task. Stay on task.
How many do we have now?
Deej, when you were on your island trip did you need to fuel up from your tank or were the gas stations close enough? If you did need to fuel up from your spare, how much fuel did you need? What I mean is could you have gotten away with a one or 2 litre bottle?

Not sure, but the first day we were on fumes as we thought there would be gas stations closer to each other. 60 miles on a gravel road plus when you got to where you wanted to camp, you still wanted to explore some. The 2 gal jugs gas (red) and water (blue) came in real handy. I have 2 of the 33oz and 2 of the 22oz MSR bottles, but I just wanted something that was easy to get to and it worked perfect.

No they carried thier own fuel. Same 2.5 gal containers, but one guy had his in a saddlebag and the other guy had his in the huge Rubbermaid box strapped onto his DRZ 400.
