- 1. I often ride alone but I always bring my Epirb.....I may get a fine but they can fine me after I get out of the hospital.
- 2. Ride at your own pace to a point (on the slab I'm super conservative) off-road I like to push it, if ya don't wipe out on occasion you're not trying. Avoid trees at all cost.
- 3 No breakage here, drink and bring extra....you'll use it.
- 4 How could ya not be havin fun?

these are offroad rules for the newer rider with limited offroad experience. actually they're more like guidelines. it just seemed to me a good place to start.

welcome...I'm fairly new as well and I'll be the first to tell you that you don't have to spend a lot in mods to start seeing a difference in performance...but yeah ride the bike stock for a bit, then when you begin some of the mods (if u decide to do so) you will notice each change..it's my first dirt bike also and it's freakin'awesome!
ps I took a motorcycle course back in 1988 when I was 15, then wrote my beginners test on my sixteenth b-day, the first thing I did was borrow my Dad's friends bike and ride all day...it was a 1982 440LTD..probably identical to the one you had..belt driven, self-cancelling blinkers (cool)..nice smooth ride.
Again welcome aboard..there are a lot of cool people on here.

G'day Jason,
do a course if you can they are well worth it, the guidelines posted above are good ones to follow, esp during summer take lots of water. Get a big camelback 3 litres is a good size. I have a 1.5 litre and it is too small for a days ride in the summer.
Most of all HAVE FUN !!!!

I know I received an insurance discount for my MSF class although it was the experienced rider's course to fullfil a military requirement. Perhaps they would give a similiar discount for a dirt class.
