GOT ONE! Hello from a noob.
Please allow me to introduce myself. I've been a lurker for quite a while, and I credit this forum for helping me decide to get the KLX.
Just picked up my new KLX250S last week. It's still well within the break-in period (so hard to keep this bike under 4K! [:@]), but loving it. Seems like a well put together, lightweight, and nimble littlebike. I've never ridden dirt before, but was inspired to get adual sport by my previous bike, a KTM duke. I liked the duke but it was a bittoo insane for my tastes. They don't call it a hooligan bikefor nothin'.
Otherbikes I've owned : 1978 KZ-650, 1969 Kawasaki A7 Avenger 350(2 stroke cafe-racer death machine), H-D sportster, 1982 Kawasaki 440 LTD. Sothis is my 4th Kawasaki. I've been riding street bikes for half my life and now I feel like it's time to get into the dirt!
Only one question so far:
Has anyone here taken or heard of the MSF "DirtCourse"? I'm wondering if I should take it, since Idon't know much about riding off road.
Any other tips for a dirt virgin would be apprecaited

Welcome! [sm=welcomesign.gif]
If you post up something about exhaust, HP ratings, or military service, you will get an official welcome from our very own Iowaguy.
You'll love him .......... I'm sure his mother does ............
maybe not [sm=boohoo.gif]

it amazes me how some of you guys just can't get through a day w/out thinking of me. I'm quite flattered VFR, you're among the afficionados (sp?). I should be the first here with a fan club. You guys are killin' me with your fascination, Brian included.
anyways, welcome noob. skip the waste of an off-road class and get out and ride yourself. no one can tell you how to ride or what to do, this is something you have to learn in the riders seat. familiarize yourself with all the controls and practice them in a secluded area before taking to the street or trail. oh yeah, buy a 13-tooth front sprocket for around $14 and enjoy a newfound horsepower delivery of your KLX. it changes the bike for the better in a big way.
