Got my Bill Blue 331 kit

RE: Got my Bill Blue 331 kit
Ok, that makes sense becuase Thump racing usesa lower profile Wiseco pistion wheras Kustom craft uses a slightly higherprofile JE piston.
ORIGINAL: Finger Mullet
Edit: The Thumper Racing 340 setup is supposed to be 10.5:1 they said they tried several different compressions and 10.5 worked best. I got thumper and Kustom Kraft mixed up .... don't know about Kustom

Pretty reasonable.
I would recommend using premium fuel unless Bill can tell you exactly what the compressioin ratio is now. I know the kits people are buying from Kustom-kraft are up around 12:1. I you are using the JE brand piston, the comp ratio is probably the same as the KK kit. The only way to get the it lowered back to stockvalue is to have some combustion chamber work done.

Naw, it's the LA Sleeve wet sleeve.

Is that a Thumper Racing sleeve? Wouldn't it be 340cc then? I thought the 331 Kustom Kraft was a bored 300 cyclinder and then nikacel plated.

Naw, the kit came from LA Sleeve, but they make only the sleeve. They don't make pistons at all.
I just did some research and found-outBill uses the same JE brand piston used in the Kustom Kraft kit, so your compression ration should be around 12:1. You can probably find a good engine shop to do the measurements and cc the head to see exactlywhat yourcompression ration is. You may be able to lower itby going with a thicker base gasket.I'm not savvy enough to knowwhether that will be enough though.

Just fit the thing already. It isn't hard, took me two nights and I'm a gumby. Nobrakes and Marty did an excellent pictorial that's around somewhere. I'm curious to see how you go with jetting, you've got a TM33 don't you?

Hey, Dean, hey guys. Sorry...I've been away awhile.
Dean, you have a great memory. Luke's Racing suggested that we modify the head to lower compression a bit. In addition to increasing the combustion chamber size, he removed the rough recesses around the valves, polished and ported everything except the intake which he left a little rough to help with mixing. Nice work overall and boy does it run! By the way, the FMF with Power Bomb is "The Bomb!" I got back some of the upper RPM power I was looking for. I'd like to dyno it again to see where it is now, but it's good. Ask VFR Pilot. We played together in Arkansas last March.
