Well I got a good laugh at your expense. I've done the same thing with the KLR650, but it weighs a ton. Take care[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Bad news on the fuel front. The Acerbis distributor says no new KLX tanks until mid-April and then only 12 for the entire US and those only in pea green. [:@]

Looks like our options are down to IMS or a remote fuel cell.

small price to pay for 'piece of mind'
Funny you should put it that way. Just got back from a little road trip.

1.92

That is the number of gallons of gas the KLX250S holds....officially.

How do I know this. Offically? I now have the little piece of paper to prove it from the gas pump. After a mile long walk from the interstate to the gas pump. This is filling the gas tank up to the little neck at the top. I will now be filling over the little neck at the top.
[sm=sorry.gif] dazjr I just couldn't help [sm=happybounce.gif]. I filled up when I hit reserve I had done 146 k's and it took 6L worked out to be 68 MPG (57MPG US) and I was giving the bike a hard time (fast road work staying under 8k rpm still running in). So it has 1.5L for reserve (0.4 US Gal). @ 57MPG that gives you 22 miles, going easy on the bike you could probably get 50% better? maybe so around 30 miles on reserve

I am glad you enjoyed my little story. Surprisingly, I didn't get mad or irritated at all. I guess it's because I like the little bike so much.

I found this gas tank on Ebay, was wondering if it is the one you guys are looking for.

a16tony your new rear tank looks pretty good. Nice mounting job as well. However, just a question.. when you put fuel in that bad boy don't will it cause the bike to be top heavy? I know when im off road I tend to move the bike from side to side pretty fast so with all that gas slashing around it would kinda throw me off. Have you had that problem? I know that I need more gas but I don't think that i'm ready for something like that just yet. I hope that kawi will come out with something will work with no mods at all. So untill then I guess I will have to watch the gas consumption pretty dang close.

It's a pretty small tank, I plan to use the tail tank for the trip there. Most places I go are 50-70 mile to the dirt. I can't imagime the slosh being worse than the 650, I'm used to that. I'll post on Monday, doing a couple hundred miles on Sunday.

I also found this on Ebay. It looks like it is bigger than our stock tanks. If it is and it fits, it might be a cheap or cheaper way to add more fuel.

Shh!! That's a secret! Actually, that's the IMS tank. Even though I want the white color, I'll bid on this if the price stays down.
