At 5 foot and 100 pounds she needs to be able to touch the ground for confidence. I like the KLX140, it has Disk brakes front and rear. But really she probably be just fine on an XR80 or XR100.

Correct me if I'm not recalling correctly, but the KLX140 has electric start and the XR100 doesn't...right? Not to be sexist at all, but I've belonged to a dirt riding club since '79. In all those years, it's been rare to see a lady actually enjoy a kickstart dirt bike. Heck...I won't even own a kickstart dirt bike anymore...LOL!...except maybe a KDX200. The KLX140 has more travel than the XR100 while still maintaining a really low seat height. A lot of people overlook the 140.

Ya I think electric start would be the way to go...she seems to have problems starting things in the first place so I can't see her liking the kick. I will try to look up the KLX140 to see if it has electric or not. And I would like to have another KLX in the garage

In the February 2011 issue of Dirtbike magazine, there is comparo of the KLX140L, TT-R125LE, and CRF150F.

The KLX has the best brakes of the group, and the size sounds good for your GF. Plus, come on, this is Kawasakiforums! You know which way to go...

If you are looking for a great dual purpose bike, I would suggest the Yamaha XT 225, I bought my KLX back in November of 05 and 6 months later the wife wanted a bike so we picked up the 225 where I got my bike. She took the Safety course, got her license and rode for a couple of years. She has since either lost her confidence or interest or both, so the bike with 900 miles on it, of which I put on 3/4 of those miles, sits in the garage collecting dust. In my opinion, don't get her just a dirt bike, especially since you already have a dual sport. You want to be able to take both bikes anywhere.

Oh her 225 has the electric start and I installed the kickstarter on her bike as a backup. The kit was only $100.00 and super easy to install.

That's our dilemma, my girl wants to be able to ride it to work and elsewhere on road occasionally so whatever we get her has to be plateable.

Deric, how tall is the seat on that XT? Wanna sell it?
