Just for comparison I bought my new 07 for $3950 in Feb of this year. I think they wanted to get it out of there because the 09's were coming in. I was real happy with the deal. You might want to look around for a dealer in your area with a leftover.

 

I checked with my dealer and they have a left over '07 for $3888. However, when you add in tax title, etc. I'm now at about $4k.
I'd still save close to a grand buying a used one for $3k with the depreciation already boiled out, but with new I'd know what I was getting.
$500 is a no brainer, but 1k is pushing it.
Tough call.

Was that an 'OutThe Door' price or did you have to pay tax on that $3950. If you get one from an individual - No Tax. That's good in my book.

The bike I got from Logan Sesco at 589 miles was not broken in yet. Being the 250 is a water cooled engine, it's able to be made at much tighter tolerances. Takes a little longer to break in.I've done all the carb, breather and muffler mods and it's just starting to really loosen up.

Your right my $3950 was not out the door. I can't remember the out the door total. $4400ish. I actually started out looking at a used bike that was $3400. It wasn't spotless. I was a little learyofit, and found that for $1000 more I could have a shiny new one with a warranty and no hidden issues.If the used bike I was looking at had been in better shape I might have gone with it and saved the money. It's a judgement call, and everybody has to weigh their own pros and cons.

 

I got a great deal at my local Kawi dealer. Brand new '07 KLX250 for $3850 plus tax and tag. No doc or delivery fee, etc. Out the door price was $4100,six months same as cash. The new '07 was sitting next to the new '09 priced at $4899. I feel like I got a great deal and I am REALLY liking this bike.

 

I just bought an 06 with 735 miles for 3250, first service was already done by dealer, the closest I could find was a brand new 07 for 4250 out the door, so I made the decision and drove 200 miles and looked at the 06, for me the used one was well worth the grand I saved, but again it was very clean.
