Default Good Bye KLX!

I've owned 5 of those wonderful KLX's over the years. I finally sold my 09 KLX last week. 4 years and 11K miles later....many great adventures. I'm sure sure I'll miss her.

I'm now dating a red head.........CRF250X. I got it plated and she's my new dual sport squeez.... Fifty pounds lighter and great suspension....she handles like a dream. And with 14-47 gearing I can cruise at 55-60 with no problem.

I knew it! I've been drooling over a crfx for a while now, can't decide whether to get the 250 or man up to a 450. My klx fell over on the trailer last ride(left strap popped off as I pulled on right tie down) I tried to pick the bike up and step up on the trailer,(no way, tweaked my back trying) I've even been thinking about a 2 stroke again (kdx220 maybe). I can't see anyway to shave real weight off the klx, it's a great bike until you have to drag it , or flip it back up the hill. I'm also considering a ktm (easier to plate in florida) but haven't found the right deal yet. I'd like your impressions of the crf250x on the road. Do you miss the 6 speed trans?

That's a good trail bike. I've gotten to ride a couple of those out at our local riding area. I wouldn't want to spend much time on pavement on the CRX, but heck...I don't spend much time on pavement on my KLX.

Isn't the CRF250X the MX model? How did you get that street legal? My son just bought the CRF250L Dual Sport. That is street legal.
Where do you live in NJ?

I grew up in Princeton. 908 is north of that.
I too was wondering about the plate, Jersey was a stickler for inspection, but had the best DMV to deal with, of anywhere I've lived, at least in terms of time served waiting for something.

CRF250R is the MX bike, the 250X is the offroad version (comes with headlight, and maybe a tail light???, but no signals). Very nice bikes. I'd love to try one, sometime.

Ya, you'll like the CRF. I made the same switch (from a 300R) a month ago. I do miss the KLXs bottom end though. Have to keep the revs up a bit on the CRF.

I have the taller gearing (in the garage but not installed) as well - 14/48. Mine's not legal yet.

Good luck with the new bike.
