I am planning a trip for this August/September wife permitting, to do the CDT down to CoLorado, then pick up the TAT to somewhere around Crater Lake and then head north on the PCT back up to The Washington/B.C. border. I have done a bunch of stuff to the bike, and just hope I can do the trip this year, before I am too "mature" to do it.

I just may take you up on that. If I have the time I would probably take the ferry over from Port Angeles and avoid the grotty trip through Vancouver.

I alway like to mix things up a bit. A room with a shower at the mid-way point maybe.

Yes a shower is good, and a pub is good. I pack what I use when I go climing, so I can go for about 4 or 5 days, including food without having to resupply as long as I can find a water source. No beer though.
On a trip on a motorbike it is much easier to find stuff, like shelter if you really need it but in the bush you need to make do with what you have or you are in trouble,.

Not trying to rock the boat here... I liked the GL bags for sure but I couldn't pay the man $300. I got a decent and cheaper alternative. Wolfman Enduro Saddlebags $129 and the enduro duffle bag $39. They fit together well and did just fine on a 356 mile trip I just did from Klamath Falls to Hart Mountain, Oregon. The duffle holds my two man tent, hatchet, ground trap, some clothes and a beer or two. The saddle bags hold the tools, cooking gear, spare 30 oz MSR bottle, some clothes and a beer or two.

I looked at Wolfman gear and while it is very nice, I decided I wanted to keep it lighter and simpler. The Giant Loop is also more rugged than the others I was able to personally look at. GL now makes a couple of water proof versions, and a small day pack, which I may add for daily use.
