Thanks to all!!!
My dealer said the oil is original, 2006--5/6 years old w/400 miles. So a oil change is 1st.
My plans:
Mobile 1 4T 10w-40---Syn OK or Dino oil for a while?
Oil Filter--? any brand recommemded---I plan to order from Dennis Kirk soon

Any Helmet recommendation? Full face price--between 100--150.00 max.

Thanks!!

Go dino oil, kawi filters, the bike doesn't care. Keep it simple.

Synthetic oil can be run right from the factory. I run synthetic blend and Hi Flo filters.

Picked up bike today--looks great. Raining though Bummer .
I was looking over the bike with a fine tooth comb and noticed these stress cracks. I know I can get them from Kawasaki OEM--About 4 .00 each, and I need 10 of them. I wonder if LOWES has them or similar?
Part # 92075-281
Anybody replaced these?

I loosened a bolt and boy it was on very tight, no wonder why these cracked.

Thanks!!

Yes--sorry

These are the grommets that hold on the radiators, and quite a few other areas of the bike--"same part #"

Thanks!

Glad you mentioned this, I eyeballed the tires and the front seems fine but the rear has some small slits near the rim. I'll replace them in the spring and let winter take its toll on the old ones.

Question: I will be replacing both of the tires and tubes. What do you guys recommend for maybe 75% city roads and 25% Trails riding? Dunlop 606?

Tires currently on the bike:
Dunlap

3.00x21 51P----603F
4.60x18 63P----603

I want to get the longest lasting tire I can afford.

Been looking at the IRC GP-1 Tires--seem to be good and priced right, Comments on the IRC?

Thanks!!

For dual sport use, every tire is a compromise.

I use D606's mostly. I consider them a 20%/80% (street/dirt) tire. I also have a set of Shinko 705's that I spoon on for more extensive road use. They are more like a 80%/20% (street/dirt). I get about 6,000 miles on D606's, but I take them off early. The Shinko's should go about 10,000 miles.

Thanks to all for your help, really appreciate it.

So far:
Still leaning towards my original thought:
IRC GP-1 or now I am looking at the IRC GP110.
Again only 80% street "probably more: then some off road riding trails etc., no mud or sand

PS--This is a pic of my OEM KLX250 Dunlap rear tire with only 400 miles on them but about 6 years old---I wonder if Dunlap would replace them free----Just kidding :-)

Thanks!!
