Default Gearing, chainguide wear issues?

My recently acquired '06 KLX250 has a few miles on the existing rear sprocket and chain. I have a brand new 14T front that the PO didn't use...he had a 15T for strictly pavement. Since I will already buy a rear sprocket and chain, I think I'll go with a 14/46 or 14/47. Of those who have gone up on the rear sprocket, have you seen any more aggressive wear issues on the chain rub blocks and chainguide parts?

No more wear, but do yourself a favor and get the 13-45 setup. Its the perfect combination of low end grunt and highway speed.

Oh by the way my 13 tooth on the front has about 11,000 miles and still looks new. The rear has around 10,000 and I can't see any wear, no curling at all. Don't be disappointed if you only go up a notch or two on the back and you can't really notice the difference. Remember its 1 down on the front or 3 up on the back to get the same result. In my case and a lot of other guys, 1 down on the front and 3 up on the back from stock was perfect.

THANK YOU, Deej

I remember a while back there was some huge debate about that. Everyone was acting like putting a 13T on your front was the equivalent to mixing your chain with muddy, sandy, acid water and it was going to eat away at your chain and its going to be ruined.

While things of that nature may be true on a mathematical level, on paper....in application they just don't hold water. The difference is so minute to begin with, plus so much more factors take place in things such as chain and sprocket wear. Like what kind of conditions you ride in, how good you take care of your equipment, lubing your chain, etc.
