Default Gear Shift Question

It seems that when I am changing gears, it is not as smooth or easy to shift as it use to be. I sometimes find myself missing gears or have to put more force on the gear shift to change the gears. It feels more clunky. Do I need to adjust the clutch cable? Any ideas?

Probably not related but I found that when I started riding, I would miss 2-3. I found if my boot had very slight upwards pressure on the shifter when accelerating in 2nd and when I released the throttle, the shifter would move upwards and stay in 2nd. I altered the shifter angle & foot position and now it's a thing of the past.

I thought it was the shift star as the clutch cable free play was okay so I was a bit worried there for a while.

How much play is in the clutch lever? Should be 2-3mm if I recall from the perch. If it's more, it could be the clutch cable needing adjustment yes.

Personally I run less slack in the cable, but I think I'm going to do some adjustment, so the levers are closer to the bar.

Definitely if your oil is old, it won't shift as smooth.

Pretty sure I've got 1200km since my last oil change, it still shifts smooth though... I've put about 6000km on my bike, and only done 3 oil changes... I change the oil when the shifting isn't up to my standards, which is anything less than perfect feeling in my left foot.

I did an oil change about 150 miles ago. I will try to adjust the clutch cable. Could be angle of my Thor 50/50 boots under the shifter????

When that happens to me, I take the time to stop & bend the shift lever away from the case, it does not need more scratching up.
