Gear Shift Lever replacement help
Hey all..... Apparently the OEM gear Shift lever (Kawasaki p/n 13156-1480) is unobtainium supposedly due to the Covid-impacted supply chain. I've ordered from several retailers that actually list the lever "in stock", only to receive an email a day or two later saying it is on backorder, thus now I am waiting on refunds.
I need a damn lever, mine has been bent and the PO did a lousy job trying to bend it back into shape. It's almost impossible to shift with my ADV boots - I can adjust it to make it "OK" to either shift up or down, not both. One way or the other, my foot has to come completely off the peg and be repositioned.
Is there a good alternative lever? I've read several posts here saying that the aftermarket levers are too rigid or too strong, thus risking damaging the shift shaft instead of bending. I've seen a couple post about "such and such lever from a XXXX bike fit", but I never have good luck unless given a specific year/model or part number (already tried one of those "such & such" parts and it did not have a folding tip. Help would be appreciated!
