Any suggestions for an after market gear shift lever?
Bent the crap out of mine on the weekend and am wishing I had done the "snake" trick, as per Westoz.
Not finding much.

I read somewhere (can't remember now) that a shifter from an XR650L will fit our bikes. IMS makes one and so does MSR (07-0707) but the MSR one looks a bit more beef so I'll probly try that one out and keep my stocker as a spare.....if you beat me to it, let us know how it works!!!

Cheers,
Tony

Honda XR650L (93-06) will fit. Moose part# MH13. I started a thread titled New Can a few months ago or so and included some pics of this on my 06 after having bent it a bit more to my liking. It's steel and has a folding tip. I couldn't seem to find this to order myself so the small shop guy I bought the first one from ordered a spare for me. Tried the IMS and Moose for a KLX 250\300 and they both are too short like stock. If somebody wants them they are just sitting in my shop. If you can find the thread I started several months ago it has pics of the Moose before I bent it. That thread was Shifter For KLX250 or Shift Lever For KLX250.

HMMMMM so I searched "New Can" and the search said sorry no matches found. OK I look at all threads started by Newpartsrule and right there it is, a thread titled "New Can".
Search feature on KF is sketchy at best. But hey it's free I guess.

Thumbs down IMS Shift Lever Waste of $$$

Don't waste your money on the IMS shift lever. The first time I "dropped" the bike on the shifter side, after installing the IMS lever, the IMS lever curled backwards. Not bent backwards, but curled backwards. Have you ever tried "uncurling" a lever on the trail with only trail tools? Yha, OEM is more expensive, but it never bent/curled like the IMS lever did. The only reason I replaced the OEM lever was because the spring lever toe part broke off. It was bound to happen, as many times as I had dropped the bike. Believe it or not, it still shifted pretty good. I'm going back to the OEM lever.

Thanks for the tip on the junk IMS lever. I thought they made good stuff? I have a MSR lever for a 93 honda xr650L in my cart at RMATV. It's $20 I'm not sure if I'm going to order it right now. I thought I had a $10 coupon at RMATV, but it turns out you have to spend $100 to get the $10 off. Damn fine print!!
