Default FYI: MegaBomb header won't fit DG-R Slip On

Back in town, trying to get the megabomb dyno testing done. MegaBomb will not fit DG-R. The DG-R slip-on "nipple" that fits into the header will work with the stock header but is WAY too small in diameter for the megabomb.

I guess if I can find am FMF slip-on I'll go ahead with dyno comparisons of the DG-R/stock header against the full FMF system.....

Crap!

Edit 10/2016: Performance headers (FMF's, FSW, etc) have a larger dia. than the stock header. Any slipon that fits inside the stock exhaust seal on the stock header, just as the stock silencer does, will not mate properly to a performance header. For instance, FMF slipons have a larger dia. midpipe that requires the removal of the stock seal in order to fit into the stock header - and will also mate perfectly to the FMF headers.. If you "rig" a small dia. midpipe'd slipon to a large dia. performance header, you lose power everywhere. I know, I did it and put it on the dyno..lol

Couldn't you take it to a muffler shop and have them enlarge the flange? I suppose it would be too permanent for your testing...do it with the fmf slip on then if its a decent improvement go ahead and modify the dg slip on?

EDIT: Doesn't the stock header have some sort of soft material where the "nipple" goes into the pipe? Why not find such a gasket that will with with the megabomb?

Yes, I can "rig" it up for testing purposes only... Is that what I should do ?

EDIT: Thing is, a full FMF system is about $500 with tax. How much more does it need to produce in order to justify the expense over the $150 DG-R/stock header...?

Exactly my thoughts, which is why I haven't made a purchase yet haha...I say rig it

or you could even use the stock muffler and just drill it out for similar air flow, but perhaps the same problem will arise with the "nipple"...

Ok,, fine... it's only money.. If I can get a powercore 4 very quickly and if it does fit the megaboob tightly without a mismatch of internal diameters ( like I have now between the DG-R and the megaboob.) , I'll do it. It seems that 3+ horsepower is what is being talked about and I'm up for that.

to get the powercore 4 to fit youll have to bend out the peice if metal behind the rear footpeg alittle, i just installed it yesterday with the stock header.

seems odd that it wont with with your DG-R seeing as PC4 fits the stock header and so does DR-G lol

Good to know! I've been considering trying this - I wonder if a shop could build a new mid-pipe to go from the Powerbomb header and into the DG can?

Well I don't like the size difference between the DGR nipple and the megabomb outlet. However, the DGR nipple is a tight fit onto the stock header - so any slip-on that would work with the stock header will have quite a bit smaller dia. nipple than the megabomb....
Seems an FMF slip-on would have to have a way to fit both the stock header and the megabomb. If not then I might as well rig up the DGR onto the megabomb, but, In my opinion that would NOT be optimal for power production.

odd, one thing i can say though is that the PC4 is basically a straight pipe, if you hold it up to the sun you can see right thru.

also, it is also a little smaller diameter nipple on the PC4 compared to the stock but not by much.
