Full fmf exhaust on my klx250s
#11
O.k. i think i'm about to get closer i put two shims on the the needle and a 132.5 jet and it seems to be better but, it idles real low were it won't run with the choke off. I have a stock air box with the oem air filter the bike is 100% stock ecept for the fmf complete exhaust and the jetting mods listed above. When it had the stock exhaust/ jetting it ran at 4000 rpm with the choke on and 1400-2000 with it off. I might try to go drive it with the choke on and about a mile down the road turn it off and just don't let the rpm's get below 2500 to see it it will cure its self. and also last question should i bump up a NKG heat range to burn off all the extra fuel my carb is now pumping do to the jet change. and beleive it or not fmf doesn't know what to set my bike at!

I wouldn't go up on the plug heat range. I can't imagine that the bike is going to cure itself...unless you're just dealing with a clogged pilot jet or something simple. It might clean out and start idling, but doubtful. Have you adjusted the air/fuel screw? On the needle, most use a Dynojet needle or a KLX300 needle. I never tried running the stock needle, but apparently it's a poor match when you start opening the exhaust and intake.

Doh! I changed my signature... I was running a 38 pilot and a 122 Main. with all my exhausts. Big Gun Full System and current. I also put a .020 shim under the needle to raise it up a little.
Hope that helps.
+3 on the check Air/ Fuel / Spark thing... It should run with any exhaust.
check all the crazy stuff. My pant leg once must have caught and turned my fuel to off. Wow, that took awhile to figure out

A/F Screw?
Broncoman, I think some call it the idle jet, too. Its under a factory installed plug on the bottom of the carb. I didn't see you mention any adjustments to that and I'd say you probably need to. Look at some of the signatures where people list their setting for that to get an idea. It's usually put as so many turns or turns out. My jetting was a pain for me to get sorted out also so, don't feel bad.

A bit drastic but: put the original exhaust back on, see what that does. If all you did was exhaust there is something wacko with the new exhaust; mismanufactured/something in there that shouldn't be. Undo back to last known good state!
