Fuel use observation/issue?

I went by my cars ODO Calibrated my bike to match the distance covered by my car. How accurate my car's ODO is I have no idea, but speed is checked at inspection so it must be "close"

Using the odo, I was averaging a consistent 72 mpg with the 250 jug, 124 main/3rd clip, and FMF Q4. I haven't clocked enough miles on the 300 to know what I'm getting yet (only 2 weeks in at this point)
This reflects my softcore riding style, as I rode street only until I got the KLX. I usually do 30-40 miles of 50mph county roads to get to EDNF forest roads, and then do dirt road burns for hours with nothing really technical (some of the roads are pretty shot and I have to pick a line, but I'm not jumping over logs or anything). I generally try to keep the rpm's in the 5000 - 6000 range.

Good point! I am currently getting what I thought was 60 mpg running the 13-45 gears. When I use my GPS it reads 4.5 mph lower than what the ODO says.
I usually hit 88 mph before reaching the reserve.

Completely stock
I turned to reserve at 95 miles. It had 898 miles on the odometer when I filled and got 67mpg. Just easy putting, some dirt roads and keeping it under 6,000RPM. The fill up was at 101.8 miles on the trip indicator and it took 1.516 gallons.

Just ran through my first tank on a bone stock '06 KLX 250 with 3,300 miles. Went 98 miles, 22 on easy dirt with remainder in town commuting, until reserve triggered and immediately filled with 1.6 gallons. Spedo is pretty close to GPS.
