Fuel Res...

Fuel Res...
I went on a little adventure ride today. I started at the 15 and Cleghorn just before the Cajon Pass.. The route was about 60% dirt to 40% slab. I had a nice fuel tank when I started.
My stock rear tire is getting a bit worn so I am just thrashing it now. I have maybe 3mm-4mm of thread (about an 1/8"). And this is kinda rough on the fuel economy but.. who cares...
More thrashing and fun... Then I look at the trip counter and it says 26 miles... Hmmm, I stop and look in the tank... Wow it looks low!
OK All cut this crappy long story into a quick ending. I make it out of the dirt and on the slab again with 31 miles on the trip meter. And it is 16 miles to the 15FWY (Read as "Gas Station" to the non-locals). I make it. Never even hit reserve. I fill the tank expecting to see the worse MPG in KLX history... 1.08 gallons and it is back to completely full.
I remember the 1.9 Tank Capacity.. Dang I had ~.8 gallons still in there.
I have milk with my cereal in the morning and .8 gallons is a lot of Milk (I mean Fuel.. whatever). Why did it look so empty....
Anyway. The moral of the story is don't judge the remaining fuel just by just looking inside the tank. It looks bare in there.
Today during the rear tire thrashing I only got about 46 mpg...
But if I used 46 mpg then I should go 46mpg * 1.9 gal = 87 miles before it is dry.
Question is the 1.9 capacity defined as the:
Tank including the Reserve = 1.9 gal ?
Anybody know the size of the reserve?
Thanks

if your riding there with a stock tank, and nothing in a pack, your wasting you time. bring some extra gas with you or a bigger tank, cleghorn takes you to the good stuff. some ohv park way back there with some single track i was looking at, to bad i had my dad with me that day. anyways, i to have gotten **** mileage here and there too. i almost always run my tank to about 170 or so before reserve, but on my salton sea trip i hit it one at 120, and needless to say, it was the ****ing middle of no where too. luckly found a station but it sure did scare me.
Edit: i think reserve is .8 gal.

I have this...
thw water is shown in the photo but I got the red one too.. for an extra gallon of fuel.
Not sure if this makes me smart or dumb
Smart becuase I thougth to buy an extra gallon and mouting etc
Dumb becuase it was not on the bike that day... Doh!
I believe the extra Rotopax Gallon will be standard equipment.
I must have been really close ot hitting the reserve...
Next time I continue to thrash the rear tire and have the Ropax Gallon back up and just ride until it stall and then I'll know the worst case fuel milage to hit the reserve.
When I find out I'll post it up.
