I generally shut the "choke" off as soon as possible. I hate hearing my bike rev with no load on it. Sometimes I shut the choke off before it's ready and I have so start it again. I'm going to go easy on the throttle and stop warming it up so much. Today is 68.9F outside so it's easy to warm it up for only a minute or two. Time to go ride... catcha later!

Yeah I'm the same way, I hate leaving it "choked" when warming up because I don't like the idea of moderate revs before oil is circulating well. I usually end up disabling the choke too early and have to restart LOL. Pretty much let it idle a couple minutes, tops, and take off. When its warm outside (it was 70s today) I started it, then put on my helmet and gloves, and by that time I took off.

I'm pretty modest on the throttle, I rarely give it 100%, though I will get up on it from time to time.

Its weird ay, in the owners manual it says there is a warning signal. But i have looked at the control panel and there is nothing that could possibly come up as a warning.

Last time I rode until reserve, I made it a point to look down at the dash, and it had nothing on it. I just saw the tach fluctuating with the motor cutting in and out, that was it. Reached down and flipped on to reserve and kept on bookin'. I think it was a feature that got left off the final production model, or that they're going to revise the bike later this year / 2010 and add the feature. Just my speculation.

A couple weeks ago i took a ride to bonavista (where n orth america was first discovered) . Some good hills but speed was constant at 80 kmh(50 mph) in 6 gear. 120 km straight run gas stn to gas stn. Fuel economy was 88 mpg! this is about as good as i will ever get. The missus at the gas bar now wants a klx. I did remind her that it doesnt have a heater tho!

Last summer I ran dirtroads and easy trails until I hit reserve at 145KMs, then drove on reserve to 160KM, but filled up at a gas station close to home. I calculated the mileage at that time to be 72 miles per IMP gallon (4.5 liters)....not too shabby for a jetted KLX with 13/45 gearing in my opinion!

i ride 20 miles to work every day on my 09 - box stock (for now). I have done this for almost a year. Freeway and stop and go - 65mph+ etc. I hit reserve at 85 to maybe 90. I then know I have 1/2 gallon to get a fill up. 55 to 60 mpg street - all stock. Warning light ..... come on now. i can hit that petcock at 65 like nothing...took a few scares tho to get that move down. So I get in the mid 80's and I am ready to reach down and flip it over...tripometer is my "warning light"...

well, on the road ive hit reserve at 80km, but that was very hard on the throttle but my best one was hitting reserve at 170km but on the road i get between 125-160, on the dirt i generally get 100km to 150km before i hit reserve.

i will mention that, i get better mileage when i go to either a caltex or bp, for all those in aust

I have never got more than 80 miles before hitting reserve. When I was at the Little Sahara I had my record low, 35miles to reserve. This bike does not like sand dunes. I am kind of worried about riding the White Rim Trail in a couple weeks, so I mounted two 32oz fuel bottles. If there isn't too much deep sand, that should just barely give me enough range. Maybe I'll carry a third one just in case, I can duct tape it to the handlebars I think.
