biggun evoX exhaust, carb mods, 13-tooth, smog system removed, airbox snorkel removed, crankcase vent drilled- 60mpg max- reserved came at 90. and the stock tank holds 1.9, not 1.65 like someone else said earlier.
What he said. 60MPG Max with all the same mods

OK not to hijack this thread, but I'm really excited about the trip to Oregon, 480 miles, and I got 18.5 mpg. It is the first time I have checked the mileage since I bought the truck 4 years ago. Not bad for a full size 4X4 long bed 3/4 ton. OK back to the topic at hand. I forgot to tell all of you that on the Poker run I went on with Tony and Scott I got 60 mpg, and that's riding pretty hard, and with the Full Muzzy, jetting and air box lid removed. Not bad huh?

And if the trip wasn't enough we all went up to where I work, and I taught 3 new people how to ride, hey Marty, how do I start my own school? Just kidding, I called to get the 4 and now maybe 5 new riders into the class, and it looks like there are no Subsidized BRC classes until October, but with 5 maybe the guy will schedule something sooner. Must get sleep....

Hey Deej,
I have been modding dodge diesels for 10 years now. 1989 orig, 2001 sport, 2003 HO 6 speed, My current truck (03) puts out 440 HP and 900ft lbs of tq at the rear wheel on a Dyno. I have spun the tires in the rain at 60 mphso far the best i have seen is 21.64 mpg w/ 35 inch BFG's and 3 inch suspension lift. your mileage is good for stock but their is much more in there. For $300 you can get a used HP box that will get you 1.5-2 additional mpg's and 60 HP and 100 ft lbs of tq. The install is apx 10 minutes. You would be amazed what is in there waiting to get out. I am trying to add a pic so here goes

Yea I now about the chips and power pucks, in fact I got to try a Power Puck out last year, and I have to say it was awesome slipping on 60 horses in less than 2 minutes. Problem is I'm too cheap to spend the money, and since I plan on running this truck until the thing disintegrates into the ground I want to be careful what I do as far as mods go. Besides remember the Automatic Tranny in these trucks is the weak link, so I don't need to replace that either. Anytime you increase the power in the engine, it has to go backwards through the power train. Mine is having issues with the torque converter unlocking here and there. I installed the $30.00 noise filter, and that did squat. Plus I sold my 29Ft fifth wheel trailer so I don't really need the extra horses. However if you have or run into a power puck really, really cheap (free) anywhere let me know.

Hello Deej,

If you are going to keep the truck a long time then i strongly recommend a new tq converter and valve body for the tranny at the very least. If you take care of this now you are talking apx $1500. If you wait until the tranny goes(and it will) you will have to spend 3X as much and not get the performance of the new/much better internals. My 01(auto w/ new vb and tq converter) in the picture would tow my 26 ft toyhauller loaded @ idle at 7mph I won a burnout disatance contest against a hopped up comaro and put down two black lines that measured 142 ft long w/this truck. When you are ready, contact Diesel Transmission Technology 604-504-4002 ask for Bill. He is the Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Best regards

Diesel Dan (as known elsewhere)

Maybe I should re-phrase that, I'm not to cheap, I'm broke. The difference is when your broke you don't have the luxury of being too cheap. When your too cheap, then while you could afford to do something you choose not to. lol oh well

I sent an email to Clarke Mfg, Acerbis, and IMS asking about larger tanks for our bikes in the future. So far the only reponse I've received is from Clarke and they said it was on their list to do.

Mega ditto. I love the stock look of the KLX. It gets real old however having to fill up every 100 miles.

I get 70 + mpg around town and on the back roads. On the super slab, I get 60 mpg.
