Put mine on the right side, but it looked just like that stock. And run a filter just like the pic above. If you look, you should find a little gravel catcher in the fuel line before your carb on stock. POS. Looks like a little sock, but would easily pass medium fine sand.

You know the rules. Show a dirty bike on here and Deej breaks out in cold sweats. Best not to aggravate him.

Follow up real dumb question as I head out the door on my filter search: what size is the fuel line on these things? Couldn't find it in the manuals & don't see it written on the line. Instinct says 5/16 - but is that right?

I'm with Deej, if there's dirt on my bike, it's from today!

Took me two weeks to find one of these:

(Bad cell pic)

Looked everywhere, autoparts places, closest dealer (Yammi) - couldn't find one until I managed to finally get to the Kawi dealer. Think I need to shorten the line a bit yet, almost kinked in one spot. Kinda tight in there. Hope that's the end of the snowflakes in my pilot jet...

Just for reference, RMATV sells them pretty cheap. It's best to add a couple to any order you place there and save some shipping dollars.
