Fuel efficiency
So with all these engine mods you guys do how has your fuel consumption changed?
I'm in stock form and I get 60 to 65 mpg.
I cant imagine these mods are increasing that. Am I wrong?
Side note, everyone in the USA uses regular 87 octane, right?

Last time I did a quick calculation I was at 50mpg cruising back roads running 87 with 80/20 tires. Look at sig for mods. Fuel economy suffers greatly with my knobbys and some dirt. I get mabey 50mi till reserve.

We lost some mpg but the increase in performance is worth the drop in mpg. At least for me it was. I won't speak for anyone else.
I always run the highest octane I can find. With street tires on I was getting 90-95 miles to reserve consistantly with the stock cyclinder. With dirt tires on out in the woods I'd guess that'd drop down to the 50's or 60's.

The last time I checked, I dropped from mid 60's to 50mpg on roads, riding easy.
In the woods, I am lucky to get 30 mpg.
Only Mods are 2 bros exhaust and a DJ kit, oh yea, no airbox lid with a K&N filter

Octane in the USA is calculated a little differently from other parts of the world. This comes up a lot on BMW motorcycle forums with their higher octane specification.
MPG: I got as high as 100MPG when totally stock and riding on the street. Off road trails was in the area of 75 to 80MPG.
With the mods, I get 65MPG if I ride on the street and 55 to 60MPG on trails.
Last time I ran my Clark 2.7 Gallon tank out, I was 149 miles before reserve and at 169 miles I need to walk or add more fuel.

ok so unmodified seems to be between 60 to 65 MPG running 87 octane. And thats city driving for me with lots of stops and go's. Another posted noted increase in power was worth the decrease in MPG. Got me thinking, what then is the % increase and decrease. I mean if you are gaining 5% power and lossing 10% MPG then the trade-off is bad IMO. But I am in it for the MPG vs the HP. If I wanted to go fast I'd get a Ninja 500.

As for Sid, I dont mean to doubt you but 100 MPG on the street and 75 to 80 on the trails. I dont get 75 on the street. What's your secret? Unless your KLX250's "H7F" stands for "hydrogen 70% fuel" then I have a hard time believing those numbers.
