My 2006 KLX 250S was getting 76mpg on the road in stock form. With the 300cc (288), the KLX300 carb parts, open KDX snorkel and full muzzy exhaust, milage is now 59mpg but power is waaaay up. Off road milage is equally silly good. I have the Acerbis 3.7 gallon tank so range is much beyond anything I'll ride in one shot.

Before I re-jetted the KLX, I was getting 62~64mpg. After the re-jet to a 124main, I'm now getting 60mpg. And the mpg really depend on how much you open the throttle. At WOT on the interstate, I may get 45~50mpg. But at a slower speed of 45mph, I get the 60mpg.

Honestly if you are getting only 30 mpg on the road something is wrong. Leaving the enrichener on too long after starting, fuel leak, stock exhaust super restrictive, bird nest in airbox... it should get at least double that ridden fast on the road. Tahuya ridden wet does suck the gas down since you are revving it hard in low gears. You can ride it a gear higher and ride the torque instead of revving it so hard, but that might mess with your fun factor. More fuel is the only way to go, big tank or spare bottles. I run the Acerbis/Muzzy combo too and get great fuel numbers but maybe I ride like a sissy offroad.

Stock exhaust super restrictive?
-Should i upgrade the exhaust?

What does the Acerbis/muzzy combo look like on the bike?

How much extra power did you get with the jets? Was it noticeable?

If I gained any extra HP, it was minimal. Maybe a horse or two, but no more. After the KDX snorkle and re-jet, it was noticable. Accerlation is better and more on demand. Top speed did not really increase, but it does hold speed better. The re-jet does its best for the mid-range power.

Here is a pic of the KDX snorkle. It allows for more air flow without increasing the airbox intake noise.

Wow! Thanks. It is way bigger. Where did you get that? Dynojet upgrade (stage 1 right)?
