Fuel economy.

Fuel economy.
Went for a ride today with WestOz and assorted ADV inmates.
My set up is 300 kit, pumper, Big Gun full system and no air box lid.
For the first time I took a bit of notice on fuel economy.
Mixed terrain, slab, some fast trails and some tighter stuff.
I/We did 146 kilometers (GPS) and I used 6.6 litres of fuel.
That works out at 4.52 litres per 100 k's or 52.3 mpg.
I carry 15.8 litres so that gives me a range of 350 k's.
Thats plenty.

yea, when my bike as stock i would get a about 150km before reserve and in the bush pushing hard i would get about 80km.
this is funny with the 351 + pumper + staintune exhaust+ clutch slip + timing out i would get 90km in the bush before reserve.
cant wait to get my bike back all fixed up and new suspension.

My bike is almost completely stock.
This Christmas I did a bunch of easy slow speed mostly paved road rides around North Georgia and Western North Carolina with Avon Distanzias. 80+ mpg... Just poking along 35-45 mph. I was shocked.
Typically I get just over 50mpg in my regular mix of dirt roads and trails here at 6k feet. Knobbies really kill the fuel economy, I've noticed that on my other bikes.

As a 250S I was getting 55 to 75 mpg depending on conditions. Going as fast as I could go (75-80 mph indicated) for a 1,320-mile highway trip I got 55 to 65 mpg.
Now that the bike is 330S I've got to take more data on the next trip. Currently I've got one tooth up on the front, but for long trips I think the 330 can pull two teeth up no problems, which should up fuel economy.
Best fuel economy conditions I've experienced on bikes is in the Rocky Mountains from 5,000 to 8,000 ft at 45-65 mph going up and down mountains on the highway. Not sure why. Best economy to date was one full tank yielding 87 mpg on my wife's F650GS geared one tooth up on the front in the above conditions.
