Default front sprocket rubber collars

Hello Everyone,
Re:2007 klx250
I noticed when i pulled off my front (stock) sprocket it has a rubber collar on each side that appear to support the chain when its on the sprocket. What do theses collars do exactly? Is it a noise thing?
My new Sunstar sprocket does not have the collars, but seems to fit OK. Is there anything i should be concerned about if i install the new sprocket that does not include the collars.

Thank You, Jamie

i think the rubber is a vibration dampener. You dont need it so dont worry about it.

It has to be a noise thing. They don't do too well in mud

None of the aftermarket sprockets have it.
