Default Front Rim Lock Question

I just put better tires on my 2006 KLX250 and installed rim locks in the extra holes in the rims near the valves stem...the rear tire went fine.however, the front tire isnt seating the bead correctly when i inflate the tire.......the tire is staying on the rim lock surface...it is a 1.60 rimlock.........is there a trick to getting it to seat?...is it normal for the edges of the rim lock to hang over the rim slightly? i assume it is the correct size as they dont make them any smaller.

Try over inflating the tyre to say 40psi.
Then let it down again.

I had the exact same problem when I installed my rim lock. Remove the valve core and let all of the air out of the tube. Then, push the rim lock up into the inside of the tire and make sure it pushes up freely. You want the tire to seat in the rim dish, not on top of the rim lock. If you make sure that you can freely push the rim lock up into the tire with one finger then you should be good to go. That way the tire has a good bead and the rim lock isn't in the way of the bead. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

well, i got one side of the lock under the bead, but couldn't get the other side.....eventually, i said screw it and took it off.......i run22 psi anyway and it sounds like the rear tire is the important one to worry about

@ 22 that things going to bounce all over the trail; I run mine @14 for the trail and have no front lock(s) and never had a problem even down to 12- it was too low for me and was washing out in the corners.
