Default Front Fork Info

Need some info please.

Our front forks...who makes them? I need to replace the front seals, is there anything special I need for this bike? I've noticed the oil seals and dust seals are separate for this bike. Do you guys buy both?

Also, what oil to run? 5, or 10 weight? anyone running 20?

What about heavier springs? What rating do the ones in there have and what do others cost and where to get them?

Thanks.

What year model do you have? KYB makes the forks. Replace the seals and the outer wipers...silly not to when you've got it down that far. I believe the springs are .38kg. The stock fork oil is 5wt. Don't go heavier, as the main compression piston won't really flow enough to suit 5wt, so going heavier only causes a bigger compression spike.

The '06 allows you to use the KLX300 springs with a proper spacer length. The Moto Pro springs are good too. I was able to get Race Tech springs for the 300 through our local shop's wholesale distributor for about half the price...otherwise I'd probably have gone with Moto Pro as they either come with the right length or at least with the proper sized spacer. I went with .44's for my 185 pounds. With the hydration pack, full moto apparel, and some stuff strapped on the bike in the rear rack bag, front fender bag, and a number plate bag, I needed .44's.

The '06-'07's also allow you to use the over-the-counter Race Tech valving for the KLX300 if you go that route.

EMS...my big drug shipment from Mexico just came across the border in Arizona, and I should be pretty flush with cash soon. What weight springs do you need?

I asked some questions on suspension in this thread: https://www.kawasakiforums.com/forum...t=32785&page=3

I am about 125kg (275lbs) and ended up with 0.5kg/mm strength fork springs, and 6.7kg/mm rear spring. I've been using them on paved roads only so far and am happy with them, but this weekend I get to put them through their paces on the dirt. Will let you know how that goes.
