Friday in So.Or
Well it has been awhile ago that my riding partner was hit by a truck while dualsporting.
Some of you may remember back in early July , he was creamed by a F-250 he was turning left and a truck was passing him. I am happy to say this friday he was back on a bike. He only got off his cruthes last week. Two broken ankles lots of pins and screws and a rod in his lower leg. We all turned out and I loaned him the use of my KLX and had a great day of it. We made him stick to the roads and easy fire trails, he loved it and is going to buy
a YZ450F next month. It will be after the first of the year before he can off raod it. Here is some pics of the day.

im glad to see that not only her survived but hes back riding. i had a buddy i went to uti with get rearended by a suburban at a stop light. forgot what all happend to him, but 2 months later, he was back to finish classes, ended up one of the top of the class. this is something i try not to think to much about, but i do know the dangers there and it can always happen. people always ask me why i ride if i know it could kill me, i just tell them i would rather live a short life of adventure than a long life of fear.

Well tbav8or I am really glad your friend is doing okay and back at it that's wonderful!
Now if I remember correctly his bike had those itty bitty little blinkers on it ( If not disregard the rest of this post) but while I'm not defending the truck driver at all I can understand it. I have followed bikes mostly sportbikes with those damn things and while you can see them there so close to the center of the bike they don't really (on a glance)look like a turn signal. At least to me.
The KLX's blinkers are gaudy and look really old fashioned but they do stand out on the street ( I know this because I followed a friend riding my bike) And His KLX 450 just has those little ones and if it was me on his bike I would me mighty worried sitting at a stop in traffic with those little blinkers.
So anyway once again I'm glad your buddy's doing okay.

Yes, just because the blinkers are legal, unknown to me at this time if they were or not, you still have to be seen. He payed a big price and is now very concerned about being seen
in the future. The truck was speeding and possibley was on his cell phone. He is taking it to court the bike rider was insured only to minimum levels.

+1, glad your friend is going to be all right. Sucks that the guy who did it to him is taking it to court, though. It's bad enough you can't be bothered to pay attention long enough to keep from running someone over, but then to go to court to try and absolve yourself of responsibility is b.s. If he had rear-ended a car, would there be any question at all as to who is at fault?
