I see nothing wrong there. There is a frame crossmember tube which passes through a stamped component with no weld on the top. If you look at the opposite side you will see the same thing. Apparently Kawasaki engineers felt there was no need for a weld in this location. I went and looked at my '07 frame, it looks just like yours. I expect they all look this way.

 

I'm sorry to tell you guys but I think both of your frames are cracked.

It's not a crack. That's how that section is built. It's a piece on top of the cross tube.

 

There's not much detail in the OP's description on the exact location he's speaking of...and the pics aren't lit very well. If it's that gap you're concerned with, then I'm with those who pointed out that it's a welded member that does not need to be welded on the entire perimeter. It it's something or somewhere else, I'm not seeing it in those pics. You need some better camera flash or lighting and a more descriptive location.

 

For some reason, the OP's frame is missing paint there as though it is a break. Or, more likely, the paint has been rubbed off. I believe that there are hoses from teh fuel tank that are normally routed in that place that may have polished the paint off.

My bike is FI.
Perhaps the carb version have something welded there.
It just seems that "broke" and forgot to paint.

Looks to me like the powdercoat didn't adhere there or you got some corrosion under it which caused it to flake off. Just remove any loose paint and repaint the area to protect it. You should be able to find a pen style touchup paint at your local auto parts store to take care of it easily.

 

No, you are making this out to be more complicated than it is. It is exactly the same whether you have a fuelie or a carbie like my '06. There is no "puzzle" to solve and what the man with the green eyes already said in the third post is exactly correct.
