Has anybody else noticed that the forum performance has improved quite a bit with the new software update?

For me, the new version has been behaving very nice -- no hang-ups, very snappy response navigation between threads, pop-up dialogs show up quickly, etc. The cosmetic changes are nice, too!

Kudos to the KF Admins, Moderators, PWI Pimps ... whoever!

Mike

P.S. - Not that I'm complaining or anything, but a few more Smileys would have been a nice bonus! Maybe for Christmas, right?
Apart from the text colour and the quick reply box so far nothing is different for me. It still hangs up from time to time and still has slow responses, maybe my 512kb dsl is just to slow [sm=smiley23.gif][sm=smiley21.gif]

Maybe I spoke too soon.

Other web sites are working fine (they always have), but nagivating around here is starting to hang this afternoon, and I just got booted off and had to login again.

Darn!

I am not a complainer, so I would never bring this up unless asked, but since you are asking, I am not a huge fan of the new reply box. Mostly the change is a non-issue, but there is one quirky thingabout the new input field that I don't like.

Because of the occassional server hangup that cause the message that I just typed to be lost into the ether, I have gotten into the habit of highlighting the text that I just typed and copying it to the clipboard before I hit the "OK" button to post it. That way, if the window hangs up, I can just cancel and go back in and paste the text that I just typed. The new input field is much like Gmail in that you can not copy what you have highlighted when you are in text entry mode. There may be a way to do this that I just don't know about. If there is, someone please tell me because it is so frustrating when you have typed a response and then have it erased because of a window hang.

With all of that said, though, I do kind of like the WYSIWYG nature of the reply box. I was used to the old way so it was not a hinderance or anything, but there formatting options in the new input window are much more extensive.

I also like the blue text.

My 2 cents.

UPDATE: I just figured out a way around my little "hang up" - pun intended. If you "Preview" your message before posting, then you can highlight and copy the text there. That way, if it hangs up when actually posted, you aren't completely hosed. If it hangs up going into the Preview, well you still have the text you just typed on screen, so you are still good to go.

Okay, now that that is settled, I love the new interface. Rock on!

Well aren't you just a wealth of technical info Mr. Smarty Pants?![sm=insomnia.gif]

That works. You are right, I had forgotten those. Now I like the changes even more.

BTW, Eric - I like the new avatar. Any special significance to it?

Well deej is having trouble with the site, i can talk to him on MSN messneger....

Deej says: My username and password always stays there and now when I went to log in it says no such user in the database. I requested a password change but I know I have the right one. It just keeps taking me in circles and the password thing won't let me change it, Now I can't post, can you post something on the site and see if anyone else is having problems I guess I got kicked out of the site.

Any one else having problems like this? Maybe, but he cant even login, so if there is others maybe they cant respond....

I think there are problems. With the exception of you post at 11:23 EST, I have not seen a post hit since about 9:30.
